Have you ever asked yourself the question, “Why am I here?” At one time or another everyone wonders about their purpose in life. Are we here to seek out happiness? Is life all about working until retirement? Are we here for ourselves or is there another reason for our existence? Does humanity as a race have any real value?
Many have tried to answers these questions but the Bible gives us the reason for our existence. God created humanity in His image, to reflect who He is and enjoy an intimate relationship with Him (Genesis 1:26-31). Francis Schaeffer wrote, “This is the purpose of man: to love God on a personal level.”
But sin, our rebellion against God, has broken our relationship with Him. The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). God, because of His great love for us, sent His Son Jesus Christ to restore our relationship with Him. By His death and resurrection Jesus made a way for us to enter into an intimate relationship with God and fulfill His purpose for us. In fact, when we respond to Jesus by faith we are made the children of God (John 1:12). Your destiny, if you respond in faith to what God has done in Jesus Christ, is to be a child of God, knowing, loving, and serving Him. If you would like to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, please pray this prayer.
I believe that Jesus Christ is Your only begotten Son, that He came down to earth in the flesh, died on the cross for all of my sins and rose from the dead on the third day to give me eternal life.Jesus,
I now confess to You all of the wrong and sinful things I have ever done in my life. I ask You to forgive me and wash away all of my sins by the blood that You shed for me on the cross. I now accept You as my personal Lord and Savior and ask You to come into my life and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I love You and from this day forward I will serve you and walk in the purpose and destiny you have for me.”
